Overview

Located at the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering at Rowan University (New Jersey, USA), the Crystallization Science & Pharmaceutical Engineering (CSPE) Laboratory primarily works on integrating fundamental knowledge of nucleation and crystal growth to the design of modern industrial crystallization processes.

Areas of focus are the effect of solvents and impurities on solution crystallization, mechanisms for impurity incorporation during crystal growth, continuous manufacturing, and nucleation from solution. We seek to develop systematic process design strategies that draw from crystallization theory to minimize development resources while improving process understanding. In parallel, we work on the design of automated screening devices to drive fundamental work and rapid process development, and on the design of novel configurations for industrial crystallization, filtration, and drying.
